Sorry I haven’t been posting consistently. This is becoming a greater reality in my life, and I would never apologize for that. My time priorities are looking a little different these days.
I have officially been here for four months this week. Crazy, right? I feel like I just left. The adjustment process is still going really well, and I’m beginning to feel really settled into the ministry at Woodmen Heights. Those students out there are SO fun, and I am love-love-loving being at a smaller, more relaxed campus.
After four months, I have compiled a short list of things I am learning about life in the Promised Land Colorado. In no particular order:
1. This is (by far) the healthiest place I have ever lived. The concept of a casserole is foreign here, and I cannot tell you how out-of-place it is to see anyone morbidly obese here. It’s a little bit crazy to see what the world looks like through healthier lenses (at least healthier than Georgia and Tennessee), but it makes sense when you realize how many trails and active things there are to do around here. Next goal: snowshoeing. I’m hoping to knock this out this week, so I’ll snap some photos.
2. I have never been anywhere else where families were deemed more important. To an extreme. I had girls begging – BEGGING – to be with their mothers at Winter Camp. What in the world?!? I remember begging my mom to stay at home when I went to camp, and these kids are begging for their parents to go with. It’s pretty interesting, and it definitely makes for an interesting change of priorities in our ministry strategy.
3. The weather is seriously BIPOLAR here. Last week, I ran outside in shorts and a t-shirt and broke a sweat. THREE hours later, it was snowing. Snowing. In April. I love it right now, but when May rolls around, I’m going to be ready for warm weather to come. I thought that this was still considered winter…you know, since there is snow and all. But apparently, these bipolar weather is the definition of springtime here, and at some point the snow will stop and summer will have arrived.
I had more things in mind, but I’m on the phone with Tiffanie…talking about the texture of vegetables…and I have lost my train of thought for tonight. My next few weeks are going to be really crazy, but I’ll try to put up some pictures as I go.
